Spiced Messy Swirls (Chocolate and Cinnamon Versions)
Ingredients:
Dough:
• 3.5 cups (500g) plain white flour
• 1 tbsp dry yeast
• 1/3 cup (65g) white sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 120g soft butter
• 3/4 cup (200ml) slightly warm milk
• 1/2 tsp salt
Cocoa Filling:
• 150g melted butter
• 150g light brown sugar
• 80g cocoa powder
• 1 tbsp Aromi Spiced Cacao Powder
Cinnamon Filling:
• 150g soft butter
• 150g brown sugar
• 2 heaped tbsp cinnamon powder
• 1 tbsp Aromi Cinnamon Kisses spice blend
For Brushing:
• 1 beaten egg
• 1/2 tsp water
Garnish:
• Sesame seeds (optional)
Glaze:
• 1/3 cup (65g) white sugar
• 1/3 cup (80ml) tap water
Instructions:
1. Prepare Dough:
Mix flour and yeast.
Add sugar, eggs, butter, salt, and milk. Knead for 8 minutes.
Let rise in fridge overnight or at room temp for 1.5-2 hours.
2. Make Fillings:
Cocoa: Mix butter, sugar, cocoa, and Aromi Spiced Cacao Powder.
Cinnamon: Mix butter, sugar, cinnamon, and Aromi Cinnamon Kisses.
3. Assemble Swirls:
Roll half the dough into a rectangle.
Spread cocoa filling, fold, roll again, and cut into triangles. Roll into swirls.
Repeat with the other half using cinnamon filling.
Let rise for 20 minutes.
4. Bake:
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Brush with egg wash, sprinkle sesame seeds (optional).
Bake for 30 minutes.
5. Glaze:
Boil sugar and water, simmer for 5-6 minutes.
Brush hot swirls with glaze.
