Spiced Cacao Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Aromi Spices Spiced Cacao Powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter, plus extra for cooking
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional toppings:

  • Maple syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh berries
  • Sliced bananas

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, Aromi Spices Spiced Cacao Powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mixing these dry ingredients first helps to evenly distribute the cacao and leavening agents.

  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Ensure that these are well blended before combining with the dry ingredients.

  3. Make the Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy – do not overmix, as this can make the pancakes tough.

  4. Cook the Pancakes: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and brush with a little melted butter. For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancake and the edges look set, about 1-2 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the other side until golden brown.

  5. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the pancakes hot with your choice of toppings like maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh berries, or sliced bananas.
